Artists statement

As a multidisciplinary artist, my work draws from a variety of skills in art, craft, and design. I am particularly passionate about blending different disciplines, especially history and art. My recent project, "Acorns/Seeds of oaks," explores the connection between migration and self-identity, depicting acorns as  human beings. This project was inspired by my family's history of migration from Latvia to Ireland. The acorns served as the primary source of inspiration for this series, which grew in the Irish land. By observing their changing forms and textures, I created a series of mixed media pieces and photographs. Each piece represents a different stage of the acorn's life and the relationship between its environment and self-identity.Currently, I am focusing on a new project that addresses the family history  of students. This project is the beginning of my journey into research, mapping ,graphic design, which I am looking forward to exploring further.

The wonders of survival

Migration

My interdisciplinary practice focuses on the personal theme of my experience with migration. My experience of moving from a rural area to the capital city and then immigrating to another country has led me to question how we can express our feelings and adapt to new living conditions through the visual arts curriculum.
My piece of art demonstrates the principles of different ways of surviving in new places, such as a canary bird that survives outside the cage in a bus station.

Far away so close

My work is inspired by childhood memories and real life experiences, which i express through a series of sculptures . Migration is the central theme in my work, representing the process of moving to newplaces and feeling like a part of that environment. Through my work, I hope to create a sence of belonging and identity even in unfamiliar surroundings.

Sprouts

Welcome to Creative project, "Sprouts," where we explore the stories of how parents migrate to different countries, bringing their children along. Through this project, we delve into the experiences of kids growing up in new places, surrounded by diverse traditions and cultures, and the profound impact this has on their worldview. Join us as we showcase these compelling narratives that highlight the beauty and challenges of navigating life in a multicultural world.
