Echoes of Elsewhere

In this workshop, we explored the theme of migration through the tactile and grounding medium of clay. Much like my own practice of blending science and art to explore biological adaptation, this session used the physical properties of earth to mirror the human experience of settling in a new place and establishing new roots.

The bell serves as a vessel for "The invisible journey," representing the memories and microbial history we carry with us across borders. Through a process of creative inquiry, participants were encouraged to think critically about movement and displacement. By molding the clay, students transformed raw earth into a resonant object, symbolizing the strength and vulnerability required to find one's voice in a new environment.
